The WMCHealth Healthcare Explorer Program offers motivated individuals an enriching opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the healthcare field. Over four weeks, high school students will immerse themselves in our hospital's dynamic environment, engaging in various activities designed to foster personal growth, develop essential skills, and contribute meaningfully to patient care. Join us on this rewarding journey of exploration and service as we inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders!

This program is open to high school juniors who will be entering their senior year in fall 2025.

Our healthcare explorers will:

  1. Be introduced to the healthcare environment, including hospital departments, healthcare professionals' roles, and patient care areas.
  2. Learn about basic healthcare skills like communicating with patients, following infection control protocols, and understanding medical terms.
  3. Interact meaningfully with patients, offering companionship, emotional support, and help with non-medical tasks when needed.
  4. Support healthcare staff during daily hospital operations.
